Niveau intermédiaire

The pronominal verbs are the verbs that are conjugated with a pronoun (a particle).
These pronoun are: me, te, se, nous, vous, se.
They have to be conjugated with the pronoun that go with the person used.
Me goes with Je
Te goes with Tu and so on…

Example: Se laver
Je me lave
Tu te laves
Il se lave
Nous nous lavons
Vous vous lavez
Ils se lavent


There are different types of pronominal verbs:

1. The passive pronominal verbs
The subject undergoes the action but do not do it.
Example:
L'italien se comprend facilement quand on est français.

2. The reflexive pronouns
The subject undergoes the action that it does
Example:
Il ne s'entend pas parler.

3. The reciprocal pronouns
The subject undergoes the action.
Example:
Les boxeurs doivent se battre

4. The subjective pronouns
The subject doesn't undergo the action that it does.
Example:
Ma voisine se moque souvent de moi.
