In French there are two types of demonstrative pronouns: the demonstrative pronoun (see other lesson on them) and the demonstrative adjectives. They all can be translated by this, that in the singular or these, those in the plural.
Let's check them out.

Male noun : Ce (ce chat, ce poireau)
Male noun starting with a vowel or a –h: cet (cet arbre, cet home).
Female noun: cette (cette femme, cette maison)
Plurals nouns : ces (ces animaux, ces camions, ces voitures)
